A Redundancy situation arises when an employer decides to reduce the number of its employees, either within the business as a whole, or within a particular site, business unit, function or job role. We understand that when redundancies or potential redundancies are announced, this can be a stressful and uncertain time for employees. However we must stress that it is important that you speak to a solicitor as soon as possible.
You, as an Employee have certain rights in a redundancy situation and it is important that you take advice from a solicitor as soon as possible, so that you know what they are. It may be that you are entitled to a Statutory Redundancy Payment in addition to any notice period under your employment contract. We can help with that.
We can also help to make sure that your Employer follows a correct redundancy procedure and treats you fairly during this process.
Sometimes Employers ask Employees to sign Settlement Agreements (Compromise Agreements) when they are being made redundant. If so, please contact us and we will assist you in that regard. Often you will not need to even pay our legal fees, as your employer will usually pay for you to see a solicitor of your choice to take advice on the Compromise Agreement.
Should you wish to speak to a member of our experienced Employment team, please do not hesitate to contact us on 0161 830 7777. We offer a free initial telephone interview.
